A holiday in the mountains

Picture this: views of lush greenery and epic peaks, the smell of fresh air, and you. Yes, this could be how you start every morning on your summer holiday in Europe’s most extensive mountain range – the Alps.

Besides epic views, fresh air, and the joy of seeing the majestic Alps in person there is plenty that you can do to get to know this mountain range far better – and you can do it all in person with your partner, your friends, or your family.

For families

This will be one exciting family holiday exploring the great outdoors. The fun can begin before you leave as you can all learn more about the Alps, the popular peaks, the history of life there, and the fun things you will be able to do when you travel on your holiday. Then on your holiday you can actually experience much of what you learnt.

You can work on your physical fitness on an obstacle course that has been especially designed for families. Think of how much you will be able to connect as you each make your way through a fun, slightly complicated obstacle course.

As you navigate your way through some spectacular hiking trails in the mountains the geographers and nature-lovers in the family can also marvel at the peaks and the plant life around you. You’ll feel the fresh mountain air as it passes through your lungs and you’ll hear the magnificent sounds of the Alpine birds. You may even be lucky enough to spot mountain hares which will be brownish grey in the summer – they are white in winter so they can be better camouflaged in the snow.

For couples

For the fit couple there is so much for you to do and explore. You can opt for a guided hike through the mountains – whether you are beginners or experts, there are hikes suited to your preferred level. You can opt for a themed hike where you can explore lakes and waterfalls; flora and fauna; local food and culture; and wellness.

You can also explore the mountains on mountain bike trails – you’ll work up a sweat, get your muscles moving, and you can discover some astounding views. You will also be able to take some fantastic photos for your new social media profile photos or photo albums.

Other great attractions for fit couples are the opportunities for you to learn or try something new together – it could be water skiing, electric mountain biking, canyoning, acrobranching, and more.

You should also make some time to try the fitness classes available at the resort such as TRX and Pilates. For some relaxed time, after wonderful days exploring the mountains, you can take in the views by relaxing poolside. Or you can enjoy a couples’ spa treatment to loosen your muscles between hikes or mountain biking trips.

For friends

When it comes to a fun holiday with your closest friends, the Alps offer opportunities for the whole group to do some fun things together and chances for the group to split up to try different activities. On one day you could all enjoy a guided hike through majestic mountains; on another day you could split up according to your interest and level of stiffness after the hike.

The nature lovers and adrenalin junkies will love the guided hikes through the mountains, mountain biking trails with astounding views, acrobranching between the trees, skimming the water’s surface on water skis, and more. One thing you might want to try as a group is canyoning. You will be able to make your way through canyons using a variety of techniques such as walking, climbing, abseiling, and more – this is guaranteed to help you make some new memories you can laugh and smile about for years to come.

Those who came for a relaxing holiday can balance a few of these activities with some spa treatments, jacuzzi time, and some chilled pool time. One of these may also be a good option if you find your muscles ache slightly after hiking or canyoning.

The beauty of a summer mountain holiday is that each of you can tailor an itinerary to your mood for that day and what you’d like to experience in the Alps. Whatever you do, you are guaranteed epic views, fresh mountain air, and a holiday you won’t forget.
