A skin care regime for the long haul
Your skin requires constant hydration from the elements daily, even more so when you are sitting in a confined aeroplane for hours on end. The lack of fresh air is likely to dehydrate your skin, leaving it dull, sensitive and dry when you arrive at your holiday destination.
Fear not, because there is a way to combat dehydrated-long-haul-flight-skin. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before taking your next trip.
If you battle with sensitive skin, you should prepare your skin by applying a hydrating mask to your face at least a day before you travel. Apply two layers of a good moisturiser to your face and neck. Investing in hydrating eye cream won’t do any harm either as it’ll keep those puffy eyes at bay.
Keep it “plane” and simple
You should avoid wearing any makeup on the plane. And apply a thick layer of your hydrating moisturiser prior to boarding. Use this time to give your face a little pampering, by applying a soothing cucumber face pack or eye mask, if you like.
Don’t forget to keep your hands and lips hydrated as well, apply generous amounts of moisturiser and lip balm often.
Drink a lot of water. Many people recommend drinking one litre of water for every six hours in flight. Make sure that you’re doing the same – sometimes swapping the glass of bubbly for a bottle of water really is the better option.
Cleanse, tone, moisturise
Just because you’re on a plane, doesn’t mean you should throw your normal beauty regime out of the window. Purchase travelling containers to decant your normal beauty regime products into. Alternatively, check to see if the products you use are available in travel-size containers. Ensure that you don’t skip your routine facial cleansing regime as the dry, recycled air is likely to leave your skin dull and grimy.
Step out looking radiant
By keeping your skin hydrated, staying away from the make-up and sticking to your normal beauty regime, you should be able to arrive at your destination looking more radiant than ever, so the only thing you need to think about is which outfit you’re going to rock first on your very well deserved all-inclusive holiday.
