Grand Massif is located in the Haute-Savoie region between Geneva, Switzerland, and Chamonix, France and it consists of the ski resorts of Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Grand Massif is just over an hour’s drive from Geneva; expect, at least, one stop over in your journey to Geneva from South Africa.
From Johannesburg your minimum flight time is 13 hours, from Cape Town and Durban it is about 18 and a half hours. If you’re travelling as a family with young children, you may choose to break up the journey by spending a day in Geneva exploring its wealth of attractions. There are United Nations offices in Geneva so it could be an exciting visit for aspiring diplomats in the family.
With over 200km of piste Grand Massif is, arguably, one of the best ski resorts in the French Alps and with good reason. There is an abundance of good-quality snow throughout the winter season and the runs offer diverse options for beginners, professionals, and everyone in between. The area also faces Mont-Blanc offering you magnificent mountain views.
Off the slopes, taste the region’s gastronomic delights such as its cheeses, diots (a type of sausage), fondue, raclette (made from the cheese of the same name), and more. The French hamlets in Grand Massif each offer their own attractions including historical architecture, and boutique shops.
When travelling with young children, it can be tricky to find activities for the whole family to enjoy for the entire time you are away. By staying at Club Med Grand Massif Samoëns Morillon you can ensure that everyone in the family has some fun, age-appropriate activities to enjoy. The resort has been built with families in mind; there are clubs for children from four months old and teenagers up to 17 years old.
There are dedicated GOs (members of the Club Med staff team) who work with children and teenagers, and there are designated areas that cater for the needs of children and teenagers. Also, there are numerous activities children and teenagers can enjoy with their peers.
Skiing and snowboarding lessons are included in your package. Other activities in and around the resort are Nordic walking, hiking, and more. For children and teenagers, the kids clubs include these activities in their schedules with times allocated specifically for that age group.
For adults, book a spa treatment after a busy day exploring the slopes, enjoy the indoor heated pool, try pilates, visit the fitness centre, and other activities to ensure you have a great time. The spa will be an additional fee, available on request at the resort.
Our holidays are all-inclusive which means your food and drinks and a range of activities are all included in your package. We can also help you with your flights and transfers so that you and your family can focus on spending quality time together reconnecting. Contact one of our snow experts and book that ski holiday.
